Pool Renovation in League City: 7 Signs Your Pool Needs a Remodel (and How to Make It Look Brand New)
Your pool used to be the best part of the house. Now the plaster is rough, the tile line is stained, and nobody wants to get in. Here's the good news: most pools in League City and the Bay Area don't need to be replaced. They need a renovation.
The concrete shell of a gunite pool is built to last for decades. What wears out is the surface you see and touch: the plaster, the tile, the coping and the equipment. Replace those, and an old pool can look and feel brand new.
Not sure what your pool needs? We'll come look at it and tell you straight: what needs work now, and what can wait. Call or text 409-986-7600.
7 signs your pool needs a remodel
The plaster feels rough. If the bottom scrapes feet or snags swimsuits, the finish is wearing away.
Stains won't come out. Brown, gray or blotchy spots that stay after brushing and balancing the water usually mean the surface is worn.
You see cracks or hollow spots. Surface cracks and patches that sound hollow when tapped can mean the plaster is coming loose.
Tile is cracked or falling off. The waterline tile takes the most sun and chemicals. Missing tile lets water get behind it.
The coping is loose or cracked. Coping is the stone or concrete cap around the edge. When it moves, water can get under the deck.
You add water all the time. Texas heat evaporates a lot of water, but if you're topping off far more than your neighbors, have it checked for a leak.
It just looks dated. Old tile, an old color, no lighting. Sometimes the reason to remodel is simply that you don't enjoy it anymore.
Pick your new look
A remodel is your chance to get the pool you really want. When you replaster, you choose a new interior finish:
Standard plaster: the classic smooth white or colored finish.
Quartz: plaster mixed with quartz for richer color and a bit more durability.
Pebble: small pebbles set in the surface for a natural look. Pebble Tec, a major maker, says standard plaster needs resurfacing every 5 to 10 years, while pebble finishes can last over 20 years with good water care.
Your finish color changes your water color. White plaster gives a bright, light blue. Darker finishes give you a deep blue or lagoon look. We'll show you the difference in a design of your own pool before you choose.
What a full pool makeover can include
New interior finish (plaster, quartz or pebble)
New waterline tile
New coping
Energy-saving equipment like a variable-speed pump, heater or automation
LED lighting that changes the whole backyard at night
New features like a sun shelf, bench or water feature
A refreshed pool deck
Doing several at once usually saves money, because the pool only gets drained and prepped one time. Want proof of what's possible? see a real before-and-after.
Done safely on the Gulf Coast
A replaster means draining the pool, and on the coast that has to be timed right. When the ground is soaked with rain, groundwater can push on an empty pool. We plan every drain around the weather and your site, and we keep your pool empty only as long as it needs to be.
What does a pool remodel cost?
It depends on the size of your pool and what you change. A simple replaster and a full makeover are very different jobs, so we give you a written quote after we see your pool. You're never guessing. Financing works for remodels too. See How Much Is a Pool Per Month?
